Health Department Confirms 31st COVID-19 Death and 63 New Cases, Cumulative Total of 1,849 Cases in Madison County

The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms a 65-year-old male died Aug. 17 due to complications from COVID-19, according to a Tuesday morning news release from the department. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 31 in Madison County.

The health department received positive test results for 63 more cases of COVID-19. There are now 1,850 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.

The newest confirmed cases include 21 males, 42 females, and range from ages 1 to 88. The newest cases also include an inmate from the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex.

The department’s epidemiology staff are reaching out to these individuals and people who had close contact with these cases.

Twenty-two Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. One of those patients is on a ventilator.

The department also released the following demographic information about Madison County’s confirmed COVID-19 cases.
