Health Department Confirms Two Additional COVID-19 Deaths, 1409 Cases in Madison County

The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms an 87-year-old female died Aug. 8 and an 81-year-old male died Aug. 9 due to complications from COVID-19, according to a Sunday morning news release from the department. There are now 24 confirmed COVID-19 deaths in Madison County.

The health department received positive test results for 37 more cases of COVID-19. We now have 1,409 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison county.

The newest confirmed cases include 20 males, 17 females, and range from ages 7 to 94.

The department’s epidemiology staff are reaching out to these individuals and people who had close contact with these cases.

Nineteen Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. One of those patients is on a ventilator.

The release said 930 Madison County residents have recovered from COVID-19 and 66 people say they are feeling better.
