There are over 2,430 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Friday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.

As of 2 p.m. Friday, there are 118,782 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 2,432 additional cases since Thursday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen by 20 additional deaths to 1,206.

There have been 79,357 recoveries, 1,799 more since Thursday. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.

A total of 5,190 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.

A total of 1,660,337 tests have been taken, which is 26,695 more since Thursday’s report.
