Health Department Confirms Two Additional COVID-19 Deaths, 1310 Cases in Madison County

The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms a 67-year-old male died July 30 and a 27-year-old male died Aug. 5 due to complications from COVID-19, according to a Thursday morning news release. This brings the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 21 in Madison County.

The health department received positive test results for 45 more cases of COVID-19. We now have 1,310 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.

The newest confirmed cases include 24 males, 21 females, and range from ages 15 to 87.

The department’s epidemiology staff are reaching out to these individuals and people who had close contact with these cases.

Eighteen Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. One of those patients is on a ventilator.

The release said 886 Madison County residents have recovered from COVID-19 and 42 people say they are feeling better.
