Health Department Confirms 1,235 Cases of COVID-19 in Madison County

 The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department received positive test results for 48 more cases of COVID-19, according to a Tuesday morning news release from the department. There are now have 1,235 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.

The newest confirmed cases include nine inmates from the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex. The newest confirmed cases include 31 males, 17 females, and range from ages 1 to 82.

The department’s epidemiology staff are still trying to contact some of these individuals, so hospitalization status is unknown at this time. The staff is also also reaching out to people who had close contact with these cases.

Fourteen Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. Two of those patients are on a ventilator.

There are 726 Madison County residents have recovered from COVID-19 and 67 people say they are feeling better.
