There are over 2,550 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Monday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.

As of 2 p.m. Monday, there are 96,489 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 2,553 additional cases since Monday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen by 11 additional deaths to 978.

There have been 57,239 recoveries, 2,509 more since Sunday. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.

A total of 4,280 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.

A total of 1,410,396 tests have been taken, which is 28,537 more since Sunday’s report.
