There are over 1,820 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Friday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.

As of 2 p.m. Friday, there are 48,712 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 1,822 additional cases since Thursday according to the report. The death toll has risen to 633.

There have been 29 591 recoveries, 653 more since Thursday. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.

A total of 2,825 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.

A total of 862,121 tests have been taken, which is 24,037 more since Friday’s report.
