There are over 1,800 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Wednesday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.

As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, there are 45,315 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 1,806 additional cases since Tuesday according to the report. The death toll has risen to 609.

There have been 28,283 recoveries, 684 more since Tuesday. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.

A total of 2,715 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.

A total of 817,522 tests have been taken, which is 24,743 more since Tuesday’s report.
