
Due to the current Centers for Disease Control recommended guidelines for social distancing there are no commercial fireworks displays currently scheduled within the City of Jackson, TN for the July 4th holiday, according to a news release from the City of Jackson’s Mayor’s Office and the Jackson Fire Department.
The use of consumer grade fireworks is not allowed within the City of Jackson, TN according to the 2012 International Fire Code as adopted by the City of Jackson, Tennessee. Consumer grade fireworks are defined as any small firework device designed to produce visible effects by combustion. Every year, approximately 13,000 people are treated for injuries in hospital emergency rooms due to mishandling of live, misfired and waste consumer fireworks. In addition, fires resulting from fireworks cause over $20 million in direct property damage.
