The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department has received test results for 185 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County, said Kim Tedford, director of the health department, Wednesday morning.

The department’s epidemiology staff are reaching out to people who had close contact with these individuals.

Three Madison County residents are currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Two are hospitalized in Jackson and one is hospitalized in Nashville, Tedford said. She said some of the new cases have been in Memphis, where there was a spike of 200 cases reported Tuesday. Tedford said she is afraid people are becoming lax when it comes to wearing masks and social distancing. She’s asking people to remain vigilant.

There are 170 Madison County residents have recovered from COVID-19 and six people say they are feeling better.
