The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department received positive test results for one more confirmed case of COVID-19, according to a Monday morning news release from the health department. Madison County now has 173 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus.

The most recent case is a 23-year-old female. The department’s epidemiology staff are still trying to contact this individual, so hospitalization status is unknown at this time.

The releasese said the department was recently notified of eight false positive test results for COVID-19 at American Health Communities (AHC) West Tennessee Transitional Care. The Tennessee Department of Health State Public Health Laboratory reported eight positive test results at the facility last week. Those individuals were retested twice, once by a private laboratory and again by the state laboratory. Each individual tested negative for COVID-19 during their second and third tests.

Two Madison County residents are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, with one of those patients on a ventilator.

The release said 160 Madison County residents have recovered from COVID-19 and five people say they are feeling better.

The department also released the following demographic information about Madison County’s confirmed COVID-19 cases:
