144 Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 in Madison County, Health Dept. Says

The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department received positive test results for one more confirmed cases of COVID-19 Thursday morning, according to Kim Tedford, executive director of the department. Madison County now has a total of 144 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The newest case is a 60-year-old man, who is not hospitalized. The department’s epidemiology staff are reaching out to people who had contact with this person.

A release from the department stated that eight Madison County residents are currently hospitalized with COVID-19. One of those patients is currently on a ventilator. Two patients came off ventilators Wednesday, with one of those patients having been on a ventilator for a month.

Tedford said an order has been signed by herself Madison County Mayor Jimmy Harris and City of Jackson Mayor Scott Conger that allows the city to move to Phase 2 and allow businesses like barber shops, gyms salons tanning businesses and tattoo parlors to tentatively open Monday.
