Jackson Police have arrested and charged a 20-year-old woman with an attempted murder charge in connection with an April 22 road rage incident, according to a JPD news release.

Cyandra D. Reed is facing a charge of attempted first-degree murder for her involvement in the road rage incident, which occurred in the area of the U.S. 45 Bypass and Channing Way.

The release said around 12:50 p.m. April 22, JPD officers responded to an incident involving gunfire at the intersection of the U.S. 45 Bypass and Channing Way.  Officers were told that the occupants of a vehicle had shot into another vehicle.  The officers located the victim of the incident, who had sustained non-life threatening injuries and damage to his vehicle from the gunfire.  The victim and witnesses told officers that the shooter was traveling in a red or maroon colored, four-door Infiniti, which continued south on the U.S. 45 Bypass.

The release said the next day, April 23, JPD received a “tip” from a citizen who advised the possible tag number of the suspect vehicle.  After a thorough investigation and assistance from the victim, witnesses, and the community, the occupants of the suspect vehicle were identified and interviewed by Jackson Police investigators.

The investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from a perceived road rage situation that occurred while both vehicles were traveling south on the U.S. 45 Bypass, the release said.

The investigation is ongoing and charges against the other occupant in the suspect vehicle are pending.
