Over 9,900 Tennesseans have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, according to Monday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.
As of 2 p.m. Monday, there are 9,918 confirmed cases of COVID-19, while the death toll has risen to 184.
There have been 4,720 recoveries. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
A total of 837 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.
A total of 154,402 tests have been taken.
According to Monday’s data, 4,108 white Tennesseans with COVID-19 make up 41.4 percent of the cases, while 1,983 black or African-American Tennesseans make up 20 percent of the cases. The data also showed that 609 Tennesseans with COVID-19 who are other or multiracial make up 6.1 percent of the cases while 203 COVID-19 positive Asian Tennesseans make up 2 percent of the state’s cases. The data showed that 754 COVID-19 positive Hispanic or Latino Tennesseans make up 7.6 percent of the state’s COVID-19 cases.
The age range with the most confirmed cases of COVID-19 is the 21-30 age range with 1,913 confirmed cases, with the 31-40 age range the second-highest age range with 1,670 confirmed cases. The lowest age range of confirmed cases is 0-10 range with 166 confirmed cases, with the 81+ age range the second-lowest age range with 336 confirmed cases.
The 81+ age range has the most reported deaths, with 63 deaths reported, followed by 50 deaths in the 71-80 age range and 42 deaths in the 61-70 age group. The only age group with no reported deaths is the 11-20 age group, followed by age groups 0-10 and 21-30 with one death reported in each age group.
The data showed that female Tennesseans make up 46.1 percent of confirmed cases with 4,568 cases and 72 deaths (39.1 percent), while male Tennesseans make up 50.7 percent of confirmed cases with 5,033 cases and 112 deaths (60.9 percent). There are 317 cases (3.2 percent) pending.
