Health Department Reports 2 New Cases of COVID-19 in Madison County

Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department reported two new cases of the novel coronavirus in Madison County Friday afternoon, bringing the total of confirmed cases in the county to 67.

The newest patients include:

  • 50-year-old male (hospitalization unknown)
  • 52-year-old male (not hospitalized)

The release said the department’s epidemiology staff is still trying to make contact with one of the patients, so hospitalization status is not known at this time. The department is also reaching out to the people who had contact with these patients.

The department also released the following demographic information about Madison County’s confirmed COVID-19 cases:

RACE:

Black or African-American: 35 cases, 52 percent

White: 13 cases, 20 percent

Asian: 2 cases, 3 percent

Hispanic: 1 case, 2 percent

Unspecified: 16 cases, 24 percent

 

GENDER:

Female: 35 cases, 52 percent

Male: 32 cases, 48 percent

 

HEALTH STATUS:

Recovered: 22 cases, 33 percent

Not Recovered: 20 cases, 30 percent

Better: 15 cases, 22 percent

Unknown: 10 cases, 15 percent
