Over 90 Tennesseeans who tested positive for the novel coronavirus have died and over 900 have recovered, according to Thursday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.

As of 2 p.m. Thursday, there have been 94 COVID-19 deaths in Tennessee and 921 recoveries. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.

The department also said 4,634 positive COVID-19 cases have been reported and a total of 505 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.

A total of 55,215 tests have come back negative from private and state labs and a total of 59,849 tests have been taken.

According to Thursday’s data, 2,013 white Tennesseans with COVID-19 make up 43 percent of the cases, while 668 black or African-American Tennesseans make up 14 percent of the cases. The data also showed that 186 Tennesseans with COVID-19 who are other or multiracial make up 4 percent of the cases while 51  COVID-19 positive Asian Tennesseeans make up 1 percent of the state’s cases. The data showed that 184 COVID-19 positive Hispanic Tennesseans make up 4 percent of the state’s COVID-19 cases.

The data also showed that 1,843 cases, which makes up 40 percent of the state’s cases, are pending.

The age range with the most confirmed cases of COVID-19 is the 21-30 age range with 991 confirmed cases, with the 51 to 60 age range the second-highest age range with 845 confirmed cases. The lowest age range of confirmed cases is 0-10 range with 51 confirmed cases, with the 81+ age range the second-lowest age range with 156 confirmed cases.

The 81+ age range has the most reported deaths, with 30 deaths reported, followed by 24 deaths in the 71-80 age range and 23 deaths in the 61-70 age group. The only age group with no reported deaths is the 11-20 age group, followed by age groups 0-10, 21-30 and 31-40 with one death reported in each age group.

The data showed that female Tennesseans make up 52 percent of confirmed cases with 2,398 cases, while male Tennesseans make up 46 percent of confirmed cases with 2,155 cases. There are 81 cases (2 percent) of cases pending.

Tennessee remains under a mandatory, 14-day Stay At Home executive order from Gov. Bill Lee.
