Lane College announced Tuesday morning that it intends to move forward with its plans to hold its annual commencement in July, but is keeping in mind that the COVID-19 pandemic might continue into the summer.

President Logan Hampton said the following about graduating seniors commencement exercises in a letter posted to the college’s Facebook page:

Dear Graduating Seniors,

We are grateful for your vigilance, patience and prayers as we find creative ways to address numerous challenges that heavily impact life as we know it. This is not what any of us envisioned for the remaining weeks of your college experience. But, we are committed to you and finding ways to celebrate your accomplishments.

Lane College Annual Commencement Exercises are one of our most treasured traditions. We understand the importance of honoring your achievements and look forward to celebrating with you and your families. While we are moving forward with plans to hold the Annual Commencement Convocation for 10 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2020, at Oman Arena, we must keep in mind that the threat of COVID-19 may continue into the summer months.

We will continue to add more information to the College’s website. Please remain safe and follow the guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), your local health agencies, and your state and local officials.

Grace, mercy, and peace,
Logan Hampton
President
