
An additional meal pickup location has been added as schools across the state remain closed most of April because of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a post on the Jackson-Madison County School System’s Facebook page.
The post said 334 Commerce St., near Washington Douglas, will be a parking lot pick-up location beginning Monday, April 6.
The post also said pickup at the following locations are from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday through Friday, that meals are free for children under 18, that meals can be picked up from any location, and that the child is not required to be at the pickup location.
Meal pick-ups will also be at the following school locations:
• Alexander Elementary, 900 N. Highland Ave. (Meals at this location will be handed out from a bus in the parking lot)
• Arlington Elementary, 701 Arlington Ave.
• Denmark Elementary, 1945 Denmark-Jackson
• Isaac Lane Elementary, 746 Lexington Ave.
• Northeast Middle, 2665 Christmasville Road
• North Parkway Middle, 1341 North Parkway
• South Elementary, 570 Stone Road, Pinson, Tenn.
• Thelma Barker Elementary, 1470 Ashport Road
• West Bemis Middle, 230 D Street
Social distancing will be in practice and no one will be allowed to enter the school building except for essential personnel, the school system said.
The school district also thanks the community for allowing School Nutrition Services to assist its students and meet the needs of its community.
