Henderson County Mayor Eddie Bray announced Sunday the first confirmed case of the novel coronavirus in Henderson County.
Bray was contacted by the Tennessee Department of Health Sunday about the patient, who will be quarantined, he said during a Facebook Live Sunday afternoon.
Bray, who was joined by City of Lexington Mayor Jeff Griggs and Scotts Hill Mayor Kenny Parrish, said it was not unexpected news and that they had been preparing for the arrival of COVID-19 in their county for weeks.
“The worst thing we can do during trying times like this is panic and lose faith,” Bray said.
Bray said he and the other mayors are working with other agencies to minimize COVID-19’s impact on Henderson County residents and will continue to work to keep everyone safe and informed.
He asked that everyone continues to pray for the community and continue to follow Gov. Bill Lee’s Stay At Home executive order.
He ended his announcement by giving encouraging words from Psalm 50:15: “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.”
