The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department announced Thursday afternoon that it received positive test results for two more confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the county to 19. The department previously announced four new confirmed COVID-19 cases Thursday morning.

The newest patients are a 36-year-old male and a 49-year-old male, both being told to self-isolate at home, according to a news release from the health department.

The release said the department’s epidemiology staff is reaching out to people who’ve had contact with the patient.

Jackson-Madison County Health Department Executive Director Kim Tedford said Thursday morning that the county has reached the point of community spread of COVID-19 and that everyone should stay home.

“You need to be treating people like they are infected,” Tedford said. “Please stay home.”
