City of Jackson Mayor Scott Conger has issued an executive order for the City of Jackson which temporarily closes gyms and fitness centers, suspends dining in at restaurants and sets forth more guidelines set Sunday morning by Gov. Bill Lee’s Executive Order 17, according to the executive order issued by Conger Sunday afternoon.

Conger announced Saturday night that an announcement about closures of non-essential businesses would be made soon.

According to the executive order, any retail business that remains open to the public has to abide by social distancing practices and make reasonable efforts to keep customers six feet apart and sanitize products on common surfaces.

Restaurants are permitted to operate their normal hours, but can only offer food delivery and/or take-out services, the executive order said. Consuming food and alcohol on the premises is prohibited.

All recreational and entertainment businesses like movie theaters, gyms, performing arts centers, nightclubs, indoor portions of retail shopping malls, beauty salons, spas, barbershops, massage parlors and more must close to the public.

The executive order also said funerals, celebrations of life, cremation services and memorial services should only be attended by close family or less than 10 people in accordance to Gov. Lee’s executive order.
