In celebration of National Library Card Sign-up Month, the Library is hosting a special event on Monday, September 20, at 5:00 PM. In addition to our announcement earlier this month that the JMC Library is fine free forever, we also have news to share about an upcoming partnership with Jackson-Madison County Schools.

Library Director, Dinah Harris, shared, “September is a big month for us here at the library, as we have already begun celebrating National Library Card Sign-up Month with our announcement of going fine-free forever. We are equally excited about our upcoming announcement of the exciting partnership we have developed with JMCSS. We welcome all to join us on the 20th as we unveil this partnership to the community.”

Dr. Marlon King, Superintendent of Jackson-Madison County Schools added, “we are excited about our partnership with the Jackson-Madison County Library to give JMCSS students greater access to tools that will continue to increase literacy. We know increased literacy is the key to success for all students.”

Further details on the announcement will be release on September 20th for those who are unable to attend.

September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when JMC Library joins the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide to remind parents, caregivers and students that signing up for a library card is the first step on the path to academic achievement and lifelong learning. There is nothing more empowering than signing up for your own library card. Through access to technology, media resources and educational programs, a library card gives students the tools to succeed in the classroom and provides people of all ages opportunities to pursue their dreams and passions. JMC Library, along with libraries everywhere, continue to adapt and expand services to meet the evolving needs of our community.

The Jackson-Madison County Library is located at 433 E. Lafayette St. in downtown Jackson. For more information, contact the Library at 731-425-8600, visit the Library’s Facebook page at Facebook.com/JMCLibrary or its website at www.jmclibrary.org.
