Former Trinity Christian Academy head coach Ken Northcut is aiming to restore stability and success to the girls basketball program at North Side High School. Northcut was named head coach of the Lady Indians on Friday. He’s the fourth former All-West coach hired by the Jackson-Madison County School System for basketball this off-season.

“Coach Northcut is a program builder and a known commodity among basketball fans in West Tennessee. I am confident he’ll implement strategies that will translate to success for the girls program,” Superintendent Dr. Marlon King said.

This move is another signal that the Superintendent’s directive to strengthen athletics across this district is taking shape. The addition of Northcut at North Side follows a trio of high profile hires by Dr. King; Hall of Famer Rick Rudesill and Tony Shutes at JCM 6-12; and Lonnie Starks at Liberty. Northcut brings 31 years of experience to the Tribe. He earned five district championships and made five sub-state appearances during his time at TCA.

“I coach to teach and uplift others by being passionate and intentional in building relationships and character. I coach with the purpose of helping transform students into campus and community leaders,” Northcut said.

Prior to his time at TCA, Northcut coached at Riverside and Milan. He led the Lions to the TSSAA State Tournament semifinals in 2007 and was the Jackson Sun All-West Coach of the Year in 2012. Northcut played college basketball at Union University with Rick Rudesill, the Director of Basketball Operation for the boys program at JCM.
