The faculty and staff at JCM-Early College High are continuing the tradition of connecting students with early post-secondary opportunities. 29 Early-College High seniors will graduate in May with associate degrees from Jackson State Community College.

“These seniors have worked hard to do something that very few students across the state have accomplished. They persevered as virtual learning continued at JSCC through this school year. They’ve balanced jobs, extra-curricular activities, and a full college class load to complete the program in two years.” JCM-ECH principal Dr. Nathan Lewis said.

By May of 2022, over 100 students will have graduated from JCM-ECH with an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or an Associate of Science (A.S.) Degree since the school’s first graduating class in May 2019.

“Many of those graduates will finish their 4-year college degrees after being out of high school for only two years. Some graduates have gone into the military or a TCAT program as well. Still others went straight into the workforce or a combination of work and college,” Dr. Lewis said.

JCM-Early College High connects students to post-secondary learning opportunities in four of the most rewarding career fields in our region: computer information systems, health sciences, teaching, and advanced manufacturing.

“Whether it’s experience in manufacturing, or early preparation for collegiate advancement, the Jackson-Madison County School System is committed to providing life changing opportunities to students,” Deputy Superintendent Dr. Vivian Williams said.

JCM-ECH exists to provide students an opportunity to receive college credit hours or industry certifications while also completing high school requirements.

“We’re proud of the work they’re doing and we’re excited to see Early College High continue its mission of developing future leaders for our region’s workforce,” Dr. Williams said.
