Health Department Confirms Additional COVID-19 Death, 1106 Cases in Madison County

The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms a 67-year-old man died Aug. 1 due to complications from COVID-19, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 18 in Madison County, according to a Sunday morning news release from the department.

The health department received positive test results for 38 more confirmed cases of COVID-19. We now have 1,106 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.

The newest confirmed cases include:

  • 46-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 56-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 42-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 60-year-old female (unknown hospitalization)
  • 40-year-old female (unknown hospitalization)
  • 26-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 6-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 30-year-old female (unknown hospitalization)
  • 70-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 54-year-old male (not hospitalized)
  • 22-year-old male (unknown hospitalization)
  • 56-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 61-year-old male (not hospitalized)
  • 39-year-old male (not hospitalized)
  • 13-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 48-year-old male (unknown hospitalization)

The department’s epidemiology staff are still trying to contact some of these individuals, so hospitalization status is unknown at this time. They are also reaching out to people who had close contact with these cases.

Fifteen Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. Two of those patients are on a ventilator.

The release said 695 Madison County residents have recovered from COVID-19 and 66 people say they are feeling better.
